PIERRE, S.D.(DRGNews)- The Pierre Police Department is investigating the death of a toddler that occurred last week, but foul play is not suspected.

Captain Bryan Walz says officers and an ambulance responded to the 200 block of South Tyler Avenue at 4:30pm Wednesday afternoon after receiving a call of an unresponsive child. The approximately 1.5 year old was transported to the hospital via ambulance, where the child was pronounced deceased.

Walz says the investigation continues and again, foul play is not suspected at this time. He says should the investigation warrant, further information may be released at a later time.
