Pierre School Board reflect on fire that took place at Georgia Morse Middle School

PIERRE, S.D.(DRGNews)- During their meeting Tuesday night, the Pierre School Board received a bad news-good news update on a fire that happened late last month at the Georgia Morse Middle School.

The bad news being that the fire was started, but District Superintendent Dr. Kelly Glodt says the good news is the school’s evacuation plan worked.

Glodt says one thing they don’t get to practice is their reunification plan.

Glodt says there were also debriefing conversations with emergency responders and school staff.

Glodt thanked all entities involved in the response.

The preliminary investigation into the suspicious fire in a second-floor boys bathroom at Georgia Morse Middle in Pierre indicates the fire was intentionally set.
