PIERRE, S.D. (DRG News) – All permanent Pierre School District staff members are getting a one-time bonus to compensate for extra hours they’ve worked to make adjustments because of the coronavirus pandemic.
During a special meeting this week, the school board approved a $1000 bonus for full time employees and a $500 bonus for those who work less than 20 hours per week.
Business manager Darla Mayer says school districts in South Dakota are receiving $500 per student in federal Coronavirus Relief Funds, distributed by the State. The Pierre School District will use approximately $400,000 of those funds for this bonus.
To be eligible, permanent staff members must be employed by the Pierre School District as of Oct. 26, 2020. The bonus will be paid on Oct. 28 (to all employees who have not submitted a resignation). Probationary classified employees will be paid the bonus once the probationary period is complete.
