Pierre schools reacting to social media threats

PIERRE, S.D.(KCCR)- On Friday, warnings came out of a possible threat to schools across the country through a challenge on the social media app Tik Tok.  Some schools did as a precaution, not hold classes due to loosely unconfirmed and non-credible threats.  Pierre School District Superintendent says social media has changed school safety and more.

Social media has had a major negative impact on bullying.

Glodt says in the end it comes down to respect.

An email sent to parents and guardians of T-F Riggs High School Students in Pierre Friday indicted the school did receive an unsubstantiated report Friday morning of a video specifically mentioning violence at Riggs.  The specific Riggs threat has not been confirmed law enforcement.  The Pierre Police Department is investigating the report and has added extra security for the day.
