PIERRE, S.D. (KCCR) – The Pierre Swim Team will become a club team at Pierre T.F. Riggs High School for the upcoming school year. The Swim team has been separated from the school district and while it is not an official high school sport, the school district will be able to work with the team on release times and varsity lettering.

Pierre Athletic Director Brian Moser says there’s been a number of teams in the last several years that have approached him to be a club that follows the school’s rules and regulations.

Moser says in the past when the teams are not associated as a club sport, the attendance varies.

Todd Tedrow of the Pierre Swim Team spoke about the criteria of lettering for swimming which he hopes is consistent with the school district.

The motion passed unanimously through the school board.
