YANKTON, S.D.(WNAX)- One person has died in a crash of a small helicopter northwest of Yankton.

Yankton Assistant Fire Chief Larry Nickels says the call came in just before 10AM.

Nickels says the craft was destroyed on impact.

Nickels says they are waiting for state and federal investigators.

A sixty-five-year-old California man was killed in the crash of a light helicopter near Yankton Tuesday.

The Yankton County Sheriffs Office said Kevin Rehm of Rancho Palos Verdes California was the only passenger when the craft crashed yesterday morning and was pronounced dead at the scene.

An autopsy is being conducted in Sioux Falls with the results being released later.

The investigation of the crash is now being handled by the National Transportation Safety Board and the Federal Aviation Administration.

The crash was reported east of Napa Junction, about five miles northwest of Yankton.
