POET completes first on site solar plant to power its HQ in Sioux Falls

SIOUX FALLS, S.D.(WNAX)- POET, the world’s largest producer of biofuels has completed its first solar farm.  POET General Manager and Vice President of Design and Construction Rod Pierson says it will be used to supply power to their corporate headquarters in Sioux Falls.

He says they’re looking at expanding this solar farm to some of their biofuel’s facilities and to build this type of system for use in other locations.

Pierson says the solar farm’s output offsets 630,000 kilograms of carbon emissions each year. He says this new solar farm is an addition to their renewable fuel’s plants and other renewable energy projects.

POET has a goal of being carbon neutral by 2050.
