RAPID CITY, S.D. (KELOLAND) — The Rapid City Police Department (RCPD) and the Pennington County Sheriff’s Office Special Response Team arrested a man charged with numerous crimes following a standoff at a motel in Rapid City.

The RCPD responded to the motel for a reported sighting of 52-year-old James Lewis Norris Jr. at the Super 8 Motel, in the 2500 block of Tower Road.

Norris is wanted for 1st and 2nd-degree rape, sexual contact with a child less than 16 years old, aggravated assault domestic abuse to a minor under the age of seven, false imprisonment, simple assault and felony firearm charges.

This situation necessitated a response from the Special Response Team.
