BROOKINGS, S.D. (WNAX) – Pork producers preparing for winter should add flu vaccinations to their fall priority list. That’s the recommendation of both The National Pork Board and SDSU Extension Swine Specialist Dr. Bob (taller) Thaler. He says those vaccinations are good protection for both people and animals.

He says producers want to make sure the ventilation in their hog barns is working properly.

Thaler says lack of ventilation can be expensive, causing death loss in the hogs.

He also advises pork producers to test their backup generator.
