Portions of South Dakota still dealing with broadband issues

LYONS, N.E.(WNAX)- Despite millions of dollars invested in broadband expansion, many people across South Dakota still don’t have adequate internet access.

Heidi Urlacher with the Center for Rural Affairs (in Lyons Nebraska) says they did a survey last year of broadband availability and use.

Urlacher says there are still gaps in broadband coverage.

Urlacher says lack of broadband relates directly to economic issues.

The state has committed up to one hundred million dollars to help carriers expand broadband to all parts of the state.
