SIOUX FALLS, S.D.(WNAX)- A potential nation-wide railroad strike could have a major impact on the ethanol industry.
Brian Jennings, C.E.O. of the American Coalition for Ethanol, based in Sioux Falls, says most of the corn ethanol plants use for production comes to the plants in rail cars.
Jennings says most of their produced ethanol moves out on rail tankers.
Jennings says most plants don’t have a lot of storage capacity on site.
The rail strike could happen early next month if all unions don’t agree on new contract language with the major railroads.
