Presentation College Announces New Women’s Soccer Head Coach

ABERDEEN, SD (PCSaints.com) –

The Presentation College athletic department is pleased to announce the hiring of John Mclean as the sixth head coach in the history of the women’s soccer program, as announced by Vice Presentation of Student Affairs Bob Schuchardt this week.

Coach Mclean comes to Presentation College after serving as a graduate assistant coach to the William Woods University (MO) men’s soccer program. During his time with the Owls, the team went 13-4-3 in back-to-back seasons and produced four All-Americans.  They also won their first AMC conference title, were ranked No. 22 in the nation and made the NAIA National Tournament for the first time in program history.

“I appreciate the opportunity that Presentation College has given me and I am very excited to start the process of building something special at PC,” explained Mclean.  “I look forward to the challenges ahead and feel very confident that we will overcome any type of adversity that comes our way. We have a fantastic group returning and I know if we own the process we will be successful.”

Prior to William Woods, Coach Mclean was a Volunteer Assistant Coach in the 2016 season for the University of Arkansas women’s soccer program. During that time, he helped lead the Razorbacks to the most wins in school history (18,) two of which were against top 10 ranked programs, their first SEC conference championship appearance in 20 years, and a second round appearance in the NCAA Tournament.

Before going to Arkansas, Mclean served as the Graduate Assistant for both the men’s and women’s soccer programs at Ottawa University in Ottawa (KS) for the 2013 and 2014 seasons. In this time there, he helped the men’s team reach KCAC playoffs both years. With the women’s program, he helped lead them to back-to-back conference titles as well as appearances in the NAIA National Championship Tournament.

Mclean was a two-year member of the Columbia College (Mo.) men’s soccer team, where he graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Sports Management. Mclean spent the first two years of his collegiate soccer career at Lincoln Land Community College (Ill.). He also holds a Master’s in Business Administration from Ottawa University.

Coach Mclean holds a United States Soccer Federation (USSF) “D” license as well as Level 1 and 2 NSCAA Goalkeeping certifications.
