YANKTON, S.D.(WNAX)- Three republican candidates will be on the primary ballot next month for two House seats in District 16 in southeast South Dakota.
Representative Kevin Jensen of Canton is running for his fourth term.
Jensen says there was room for tax cuts in this years legislative session.
Jensen says another priority is juvenile justice.
Richard Vasgaard of Centerville is running for his second term in the House, but he was elected in 2020 from District 17. He says he wants to build on his experience.
Vasgaard says its quite a change being moved into District 16.
Vasgaard is a farmer and has been busy with planting which makes it difficult to get out and campaign.
Other candidate in the race is challenger Karla Lems of Canton.
Challenger Karla Lems of Cantion says the last election prompted her to get involved this time.
Lems says she appreciated the experience.
Lems says she is interested in tax policy.
