ABERDEEN, S.D.(Hub City Radio)- The Aberdeen City Council will hold their meeting on Monday at the Municipal Building.

During the meeting itself which will begin at 5:30pm, they will hear from experts involve with AI Data Centers.

Wager also want to look into the role government can play with data centers.

Wager also wants to hear about impacts this could have on energy and noise.

The meeting is open to the general public.

Future meetings will have area businesses talked how that could impact them on Monday, August 31st.  The public will have their opportunity to express their view on Monday, September 14th.  Those meetings are scheduled to begin at 5:30pm.

Other items on the agenda include payment requests for various departments(Public Works and Airport)

The City Council meeting will begin at 5:30pm and are open to the public.

One thing that was planned for was the work session addressing license plate readers.  That has now been cancelled due to feedback by the public opposing the cameras.

Aberdeen City Manager Dave McNeil in his statement said:

“We have decided not to pursue current LPR opportunities at this time.  The feedback we are receiving from the community does not indicate confidence in the system, and we believe that being responsive to the community’s concerns and maintaining trust with the community is very important.”
