Preview of Summer Study dealing with county funding

PIERRE, S.D.(WNAX)- The Executive Board of the South Dakota legislature, at their meeting last week, added details to their planned summer study committees.

Representative Randy Gross of Elkton suggested a change to the title of a study on county finances.

Representative Will Mortenson of Pierre said they should take a deeper look at the dollars provided to counties and how they are spent.

Senator Jim Bolin of Canton said he would like the committee to take another look at taxes set aside for counties.

Aberdeen’s Senator Al Novstrup will also be a member of the committee dealing with county funding.

The other major study this summer will be on “Sustainable Models for Long Term Care.”
