YANKTON, S.D. (WNAX) – Fields in Yankton County have standing water following recent James River flooding. Yankton County Farm Service Agency Executive Director Dave Charles says while it’s been slow moving, the flood waters have drenched a lot of fields and it will be a challenge for producers to get things dried up enough to get whatever harvest they can get done completed.
He says producers need to check with their crop insurance agent and make sure they report any losses they may have.
Charles says the major challenge is just getting around as many have to drive several miles just to get around areas hit by the flooding.
Charles says he can’t give a specific number of acres in the county that have been washed out but says the flooding has been significant.
