YANKTON, S.D. (WNAX) – Governor Kristi Noem and legislative leaders announced yesterday (Monday) that they had reached a budget agreement that would lead to two percent increases for schools, state workers and Medicaid providers.
Yankton School Superintendent Wayne Kindle says it was a good surprise.
Kindle says a two percent increase along with the property tax opt out will ease budget issues.
Kindle says they can now look to eliminate the structural deficit their budget has been carrying.
The Governor had originally proposed no increases this year but said sales taxes have increased along with some reductions in Medicaid expenses.
