Visitation will be 11:00am-1:00pm, Friday, at Spitzer-Miller Funeral Home, 1111 South Main Street.
Ramona was born on January 21, 1936, to Donna (Clary) and Arnold Arndt in McIntosh, SD. Our mom was a unique individual. She wasn’t flowery or your typical mother, grandmother or great-grandmother- and she wouldn’t have wanted to be described that way. She lived life on her own terms, with a strength and presence that didn’t fit into a mold. She showed her love in her own way- not always in words, but in how she lived and what she did. She carried a strength that taught those around her how to keep going, how to stand on their own, and how to face life head-on.
Ramona was resilient, determined, and tenacious. She had a straightforward way about her- you always knew where you stood. There was something honest in that, something real, and it is what made her who she was.
She taught lessons that don’t always get written down- resilience, perseverance, and how to keep moving forward no matter what.
We know she is now at peace, in the presence of the Lord, where all things are made whole. She will be remembered not for fitting a mold, but for being exactly who she was.
Ramona is survived by her children, Chelle Allen and husband Guy of Cross Plains, Texas, and Mike Grote of Mina, South Dakota; grandchildren: Brandon Galbraith of Corinth, Texas; Susie Klapperich and husband Dustin; and David Grote and wife Kristin of Mina, South Dakota, Great-grandchildren: Maddon and Maesyn Klapperich, and Taelyn and Kayson Grote.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Donna and Arnold Arndt; her husband, Dale Grote; her son, Steve Grote; her daughter-in-law, Kim Grote; her brother, John Arndt; her sister, Dory Bullert; and a number of dogs who all held a special place in her heart.
