RAPID CITY, S.D.(KOTA)- A new week, a new fundraising effort for the Rapid City Fire Department, who are gearing up for the third annual Josh Haugen Memorial Fundraiser scheduled for this Saturday. (June 5)

The fundraiser will be held at Canyon Lake Park in Rapid City between 10 a.m. and 3 p.m.

RCFD public information officer Tessa Jaeger said the (How-gen) Haugen family does the annual event to raise funds for the Rapid City/Pennington County water rescue team.

The event raised $1,600 last year, with a goal of doubling that total in 2021.

Jaeger said the Haugen family wants to give back to the water rescue team whenever possible.

Jaeger said the recovery of Joshua’s body was a point of connection between RCFD and Haugen’s family.

This fundraiser is just the most recent from RCFD, who completed their Fill the Boot campaign last weekend benefiting muscular dystrophy. The unofficial total donation from that campaign will be $52,000.
