Rapid City man arrested following shooting on Monday

RAPID CITY, S.D. (KOTA) – Police officials say that a Rapid City man was arrested and charged with Attempted First Degree Murder, after an early-morning shooting on Monday.

29-year-old Arlen Hatten was located and arrested shortly after he allegedly shot two people at a residence at Brookdale Estates on East Highway 44.

Police were called to the 1700 block of East Highway 44 at 6:45 Monday on a report of shots fired.  Witnesses said they saw a silver car leave the residence after the shooting, and they identified Hatten as the shooter.

Police located the car at 5th and Omaha, where two of the four people inside had severe gunshot wounds.  They were taken to Monument Health.  Hatten was located and arrested by police a short time later at a business at Exit 61 on I-90.

Police say that the investigation is continuing.
