Rapid City Police arrest man after he allegedly shot at car

RAPID CITY, S.D. (KBHB) – Quick-acting Rapid City Police officers arrested a man Friday, accused of Attempted 2nd Degree Murder, after he allegedly shot at a car after a disturbance.

Police were called to a report of two shots fired in the 800 block of Halley Avenue around 8:40 Friday morning, and a description of a car pulling away from the home.  Officers found and stopped the car, and detained the female driver for questioning.

They determined a man in the home fired the shots, one of which struck the car, and they returned to the home.  The man refused an order to come out, and when an officer saw that he put the gun on a table and walked away, they entered the house and quickly arrested him.

30-yr-old William Dachtler of Rapid City is charged with Attempted 2nd Degree Murder, Discharge of a Firearm at a Motor Vehicle, and Felony violation of a no-contact order.

Police and Sheriffs officials are continuing to investigate.
