RAPID CITY, S.D. (KBHB) – Rapid City Police are investigating an overnight shooting incident as a double homicide.

Police were called around 10:40 Monday night, Aug. 24. Police say they were dispatched to 880 East Meadowlark Road in the area of Thompson Park for a report of a disturbance in progress. While police were en-route to the location, the original caller reported hearing a number of gunshots ring out from the location of the disturbance.

RCDP Community Relations Specialist Brendyn Medina provides more details.

Medina says since the initial report, the Criminal Investigations Division has been working very very hard investigating the circumstances surrounding the shooting.

These are the sixth and seventh murders in Rapid City this year. Anyone with any information about the shooting should contact Det. Barry Young at 394-4134. An anonymous tip can also be sent by texting the letters ‘RCPD’ and the information to 847411.
