Rapid snowmelt led to flooding of some rivers

YANKTON, S.D.(WNAX)- Rapid snowmelt last month led to high water and flooding on a number of regional rivers.

Kevin Low with the Missouri River Basin Forecast Center says the heavy plains snowpack disappeared rapidly.

Low says the James River will stay high and out of its banks for some time.

Low says some minor flooding is possible on lower reaches of the Missouri River.

The Corps of Engineers predicts normal runoff into the Missouri River system through the summer.
