ABERDEEN, S.D.(HubCityRadio)- On Saturday, the Aberdeen Chamber of Commerce hosted their second Cracker Barrel of the legislative session at NSU. All three members of District 3 attended. They are Senator Al Novstrup, Representatives Carl Perry & Brandei Schaefbauer of Aberdeen.
Senator Al Novstrup:
Novstrup provided an update on the Richmond Dam project & airport projects.
Novstrup explain his opposition to the repeal of the grocery tax that could be voted on by the people of South Dakota.
Novstrup talks about his bill(SB32) which deals the fairground and might have a hearing coming up shortly.
Representative Carl Perry:
Perry discuss HB1198 that would allow people of South Dakota to vote for the Secretary of State & Attorney General and why he was opposed to it.
Perry discuss HB1185 that dealt with the $500 payment business has to pay to be allowed on the property to survey without an easement.
House Commerce & Energy Committee has a series of pipeline related bills coming up Monday. Perry offer advice for those who are not in favor of CO2 pipelines.
Representative Brandei Schaefbauer:
Schaefbauer talks about HB1198 and remind people that the country is a republic & not a democracy.
Perry was in favor of HB1185 while Schaefbauer was opposed and explained why.
Schaefbauer also talked about medical marijuana that was passed by South Dakota citizens in 2020.
South Dakota legislature returns Monday for a four day week.
