ABERDEEN, S.D.(HubCityRadio)- The Aberdeen Chamber of Commerce’s Chamber Connections Series continued Thursday at the K.O.Lee Public Library.
Feature speaker was Aberdeen lobbyist Mike Bockorny. He looked back on the 2026 legislative session.
Bockorny talks about SB121(The Richmond Dam project) that will be addressed on Veto Day, March 30th.
Bockorny talked about how many bills the committee gave a position to on the bills presented this year.
The committee opposed 37 bills and was in support of 17 bills.
Bockorny touched on the 7.5 billion dollar budget passed by the legislature. He talks about how much reserve is being used for this year’s budget.
56 million dollars going to property tax reduction fund.
Bockorny discussed data center bills. One that they supported was HB1005 which gave tax incentives that was defeated.
Bockorny also addressed other bills beneficial to Aberdeen.
Bockorny also discussed HB1262 which dealt with the school based therapuetic center in Brown County.
Bockorny talked about the two bills aimed at lowering property taxes(SB96 & 245).
