Recap of Governor Noem’s speech dealing with the Southern Border

PIERRE, S.D.(HubCityRadio)- Governor Noem on Wednesday delivered her speech to the joint session of the South Dakota Legislature focusing on what she saw at the Southern Border last week.

Governor Noem told the members the issues with the immigration system.

Noem said the situation at the Southern Border is having an impact in South Dakota.

Noem talk about the Declaration of Independence signed by the founding fathers back in 1776.

Noem informed the legislature that the Constitution allows the states the right to defend themselves against foreign invasions.

Noem talks about the enemies of the country right now which is the Mexican Cartels.

Noem showed an example what the cartels are doing at the border.

Noem talks about how the cartels are impacting the tribal communities in South Dakota.

Noem also talks about the drugs coming into the state from the border.

Later that day, the South Dakota Legislature voted to approve HCR 6010 acknowledging the need to protect our borders and affirming South Dakota’s support of the defense of the Southern Border.  No Democrat supported the resolution.
