PIERRE, S.D.(WNAX)- The South Dakota Teacher Compensation Review Board wrapped up its work for the year and approved their report, which had mixed results.
Education Department Secretary Tiffany Sanderson says the state has increased teacher pay considerably since the Blue Ribbon report in 2015.
The states average teacher salary is not just under forty nine thousand dollars, which is still in 50th place nationally.
Senator Troy Heinert of Mission wondered what to do with the report.
Board Chairman, Representative Scott Odenbach of Spearfish says they did what state law required.
The review board was set up by state law passed in connection with the sales tax increase passed in 2016 to fund higher teacher pay.
