Recap of National Farmers Union convention held in New Orleans

ABERDEEN, S.D.(HubCityRadio)- The National Farmers Union convention was held in New Orleans, L.A. on March 9th-11th.  Over fifty members of the South Dakota Farmers Union attended the convention.

One of them was re-elected to his third term as the VP of National Farmers Union, Jeffy Kippley.

Kippley discussed what the members wanted to see at this year’s convention.

Kippley was looking into the future to see some of the young producers across the country to become leaders of their individual states.

Kippley also addressed the farm bill that cleared the U.S. House committee.  One thing that was not included was MCOOL(Mandatory Country of Origin Labeling).

Kippley also addressed another policy that South Dakota farmers and ranchers would have liked to see in the bill.

Another item not in the bill is making E15 fuel year round.

Kippley was asked to assess Agriculture Secretary Brooks Rollins and compare that to former Secretary Tom Vilsack under President Biden’s administration.
