Recap of Senator Mike Rounds’ appearance on CNN “State of the Union”

PIERRE, S.D.(HubCityRadio)-  Senator Mike Rounds appeared on CNN’s “State of the Union” on Sunday morning,

Host Dana Bash addressed several issues with Senator Rounds during the interview starting with the health of U.S. Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell.

Rounds believe that McConnell should continue to the leader of the Senate Republicans.

Over the weekend President Biden was in Florida to attest the damage done by Hurrican Idalia.  The President is pushing for more funding for FEMA to address disasters not just in Florida but also in Hawaii & the Southwest part of the U.S.  Senator Rounds address this.

Senator Rounds address the potential of a government shutdown and update where’s the U.S. Senate is at.

Senator Rounds was asked about the 2024 elections.  Rounds continues to offer his support for South Carolina Senator Tim Scott.

Rounds believes there is no guarantee that if former President Donald Trump is the Republican nominee that he can beat President Biden in the upcoming election.

Congress is scheduled to reconvene on Tuesday following the August recess.
