Recap of the Land Owner Rally held Sunday in Mellette

MELLETTE, S.D.(HubCityRadio)- On Sunday night a rally was held at the Community Center in opposition to the proposed CO2 pipeline that could be making its way through Spink County.

Farmer Ed Fischbach the PUCs in Iowa & Minnesota has announced this is considered hazardous material.

Fischbach talks about the lack of transparency coming from Summit Carbon Solutions.

Land owner and farmers have hired Brian Jorde, a lawyer from the Domina Law Group based in Omaha, NE.  Jorde talks about laws in the books that don’t benefit land owners.

Jorde talks about liability claims the business will cover in case there is a pipeline break.

Two of the three gubernatorial candidate appeared at the rally in Mellette.

The Republician challenger to Governor Kristi Noem, Steven Haugaard talks about a conflict of interest between the head of the Republican Party in the state Dan Lederman who is a spokesman for Summit Carbon Solutions.

The Democratic candidate Jamie Smith came to the rally to learn more about this issue.

The South Dakota PUC will meet Wednesday to address the issue of CO2 pipeline.
