Recap of Thursday’s Chamber Connection Series

ABERDEEN, S.D.(HubCityRadio)- The Aberdeen Chamber of Commerce’s Chamber Connections Series continued Thursday at the K.O.Lee Public Library.

Feature speaker was the Aberdeen City Manager, Dave McNeil.  The theme is How Aberdeen Progress and Priorities.

McNeil discussed mental health which he pushed for when he was the Aberdeen Police Chief.

Office Brad Wolf is the Mental Health Officer for the department and discuss working with various agencies in Aberdeen.

Wolf provide an update on mental health in Aberdeen.

McNeil provide an update on projects that been done and looking ahead to projects for this year.

McNeil provide an update on what they’re looking to do with Moccasin Creek.

McNeil also address water.  He gave some background on missed opportunites in the past to work with WEB Water.

McNeil inform the public where Aberdeen is getting water today and how much is used on a daily basis.

Earlier this year, U.S. Congress passed the budget including $20 million toward WINS for the water from the Missouri River.  That’s going toward the pipes needed around the Ipswich.  McNeil discuss how they are reaching out to South Dakota Legislature.

McNeil was asked the line between the issue of economic development and yet avoiding increases in property taxes to offset that.
