Recap of Wednesday’s Marijuana Interim Study Committee meeting

PIERRE, S.D.(HubCityRadio)- On Wednesday, the Marijuana Interim Study Committee met for the final time.

Representative Hugh Bartels of Watertown discussed the bill(Draft 62) and talks about why the plan was to repeal IM26.

Representative Fred Deutsch of Florence offers an amendment to separate medical and recreational marijuana.

Following discussion a vote was called and here’s the result.

Later that morning the committee discussed 15% excise tax on marijuana. Representative Carl Perry talks about not forgetting the counties.

In the afternoon, the focus shifted to the medical marijuana aspect.  Perry talks about putting a minimum age for marijuana.

Perry express his opposition to home grown marijuana, but in favor of other ways to get marijuana.

Perry talks about the importance of training for practitioners especially in rural areas.
