Recap of work session addressing two-way Main Street

ABERDEEN, S.D.(HubCityRadio)- The Aberdeen City Council held a work session on Monday addressing the issue of a need for a two-way Main Street in downtown Aberdeen.

Aberdeen City Manager Robin Bobzien addressed getting an agreement in place with the Aberdeen Downtown Association for this project.

Bobzien discuss the estimate for the cost of the project based on what the South Dakota Department of Transportation will do.  6th Avenue in Aberdeen is US HWY 12 which the state is responsible for.

Aberdeen City Engineer Stu Nelson discuss options A & B being considered for the project.

Drawback of Option B would be cost as it would be less than Option A.  Nelson discuss a third option which is an adjustment to Option B.

Nelson goes over the projected cost for the city for Option B.

Council asked for Aberdeen Chief of Police, Dave McNeil his opinion on the possibility of two-way Main Street.

McNeil also addressed of having a four way stops for each street from 5th Ave South to Railroad Avenue.

The Aberdeen City Council will address their first reading on next year’s budget which include funding for the two-way Main Street.
