Recap of Work Session dealing with the 2026 City Budget

ABERDEEN, S.D.(HubCityRadio)- On Monday night, the Aberdeen City Council did a work session to address the budget for the year 2026.  The main focus of this was on the general fund.

Property taxes make up about 31% the revenue. Sales tax makes up about 26%. About 43% of revenue comes from other sources.

One issue not addressed tonight was the possibility of the two-way Main Street.  Aberdeen Mayor Travis Schaunaman:

Projected total funds for 2026 is estimated at over $172 million with total expenses estimated at over $178 million.  An estimated debt at close to $6 million dollars.
