PIERRE, S.D. (HubCityRadio.com) – The state’s record amount of active COVID-19 cases rose by 127 today and the record total of hospitalizations was up 18 according to numbers released by the South Dakota Department of Health. There were no new deaths. The state had 984 new confirmed cases and 862 recoveries, pushing the active infections to 11,188 (there were 8,441 one week ago). There are currently 395 people hospitalized in association with the virus. The COVID-related death toll remained at 375.
In all, South Dakota has had 39,494 confirmed cases and 29,167 recoveries.
Locally, Brown County had 23 new cases and 40 new recoveries, lowering the amount of active infections to 384. So far, the county has had 1,983 confirmed cases and 1,595 recoveries. There have been four COVID-related deaths.
Statewide, Minnehaha County has had 10,997 confirmed cases, followed by Pennington County with 4,239, and Lincoln County with 2,661. Other counties totals include Codington with 1,443, Brookings with 1,413, Beadle with 1,212, Meade with 916, Bon Homme with 882, Oglala Lakota with 878, and Davison with 873.
