NORTHVILLE, S.D.(Public Opinion) — Redfield advanced to the championship with a 24-0 five-inning victory over the Clark-Willow Lake Senators on Wednesday.
Nolan Gall tallied three hits and Owen Osborn, Erik Salmen and Eli Morrissette two each for Redfield (19-8), which got a two-hitter from Keaton Rohlfs. Salmen, who homered and doubled, and Gall each drove in five runs.
Jack Helkenn and Lucas Kanneigeter each singled for the Senators (8-9).
In loser’s bracket games, the Faulkton-Highmore Hitmen edged Groton 12-11 on Alex Sorensen’s two-out single in the bottom of the sixth. The Hitmen (13-11) later were eliminated with a 12-5 loss to Warner-Ipswich-Northwestern (7-5).
Sorensen also had a double and plated four runs for the Hitmen against Groton. Layne Cotton added a triple and a single and earned the win with four hitless innings of relief. Tate Larson and Brevin Fliehs each had two hits for Groton (13-9).
W-I-N pounded out 17 hits (three each by Xavier Kadlec, Kade Stahl and Quinton Fischbach and two each by Ashton Remily, Devon Fischbach and Noah Fischbach) in the win over the Hitmen, who got two hits and three RBIs from Cotton.
