Releases at Gavins Point Dam may increase

YANKTON, S.D. (WNAX) – The Corps of Engineers says releases from Gavins Point Dam will stay at eighty thousand cubic feet per second through November, and may go higher if necessary.

Mike Swenson with the Corps water management office in Omaha says flood storage is still high in the upstream reservoirs.

Swenson says Lake Francis Case behind Ft Randall dam is starting to come down.

Swenson also says that releases will increase from the Oahe Dam.

John Remus, head of the water management office, says Gavins Point Dam releases may have to increase beyond the eighty thousand cubic foot point if necessary.
