ABERDEEN, S.D.(Press Release) – Renovations to the Women’s Center within Avera St. Luke’s Hospital
began this week.
Focused on the comfort of patients and families, the renovations will create a modernized, private and peaceful environment for every stage of birthing, from admission to delivery and postpartum.
“Avera continues to invest in growth opportunities that will help us deliver the best possible care to our
patients while meeting the needs of the communities we serve. Additionally, we were very fortunate to
have a strong campaign led by the Avera Foundation that ultimately will contribute more than 60% of the
funds for these renovations,” said Amy Blackstone, Regional Philanthropy Director.
Construction will be completed in five phases, with minimal disruptions to patient care.
Once completed, patients and employees will be able to enjoy:
• Renovated family suites
• A remodeled nursery
• Dedicated operating suite
• Family areas
• Enhanced educational space and state-of-the-art technology
The renovation also includes the creation of an Angel Suite, which is the first ever within the Avera system. This suite will allow quiet space for families whose births did not go as planned.
Updated birthing suites are estimated to be completed around mid- to late-April, with timelines and phases subject to change with labor/patient schedules. The last phase of construction is tentatively scheduled to be completed near the end of May 2023
