RAPID CITY, S.D.(KBHB) – Rapid City Police are looking into a shooting incident that put an elementary school on secure status.
Police say at 12:40 p.m. Monday, they were dispatched to the intersection of Wood Avenue and College Avenue for a report of gunfire. On arrival, police located a male subject running from the area and detained him.
After a review of security footage from a nearby camera, police determined the male subject was not responsible for the shooting. The footage showed two other subjects, one seen firing a handgun, fleeing the scene.
The shooter is described as standing approximately 5-feet, 10-inches tall and wearing dark colored clothing.
The incident put General Beadle Elementary under secure status for a short time.
Police have received no reports of injury as a result of the gunfire.
Police continue to investigate the shooting and remain committed to putting all appropriate resources forward to identify and locate the offender responsible.
Police have released video in which the two suspects are seen, and one of them fires the gun.
