PIERRE, S.D.(WNAX)- South Dakota Governor Kristi Noem has signed an executive order prohibiting the state Department of Education from applying for any federal grants related to critical race theory.
Representative Ryan Cwach of Yankton says its not a serious action.
Cwach, a democrat, says critical race theory is not being taught.
Cwach says the issue didn’t come up during his time at the University of Iowa School of Law.
Under the order, the Education Department is barred from applying for any grants in history and civics. The state Board of Education is working on revisions to current history and civics standards.
