PIERRE, S.D.(WNAX)- The Census Bureau reported that retail sales nationally last year rose almost seventeen percent over 2020.
Nathan Sanderson, Executive Director of the South Dakota Retailers Association, says that tracks with what they have been hearing.
Sanderson says the concern is those numbers could crash without support of the federal dollars.
The State of South Dakota has seen double digit increases in sales taxes for most of the past eighteen months.
