Revenue drops all tied to pandemic

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (WNAX) – There are some glimpses of the coming revenue gap for state government with video lottery returns down over two million dollars a week and tourism bookings down some 70 percent.

Senator Reynold Nesiba of Sioux Falls says they are seeing the mixed signs.

Nesiba, a member of the Joint Appropriations Committee, says the state is getting federal funds but there may be restrictions on how to spend them.

Nesiba says revenue drops are all tied to the pandemic.

Governor Kristi Noem has said she will call a special session in June to deal with the changing budget.
