PIERRE, S.D. (WNAX) – South Dakota Governor Kristi Noem announced that state Ag Secretary Kim Vanneman has submitted her resignation, effective May 8.

Noem has appointed Lieutenant Governor Larry Rhoden as interim Ag Secretary.

Rhoden says the immediate issue is livestock prices.

Rhoden says he also wants to continue the push to open up sales of meat from state certified packing plants.

Vanneman was appointed to the Ag Department position in December of 2018.
