PIERRE, S.D.(KCCR)- Dozens gathered at the South Dakota Cultural Heritage Center in Pierre Wednesday to hold a ribbon cutting for reimagined State Museum. Lieutenant Governor Tony VenHuizen says the state wanted to freshen up the museum for the first time since it’s construction three decades ago.
State Historical Society Foundation Chair Carly Winter of Aberdeen says the improvements set the goal of preservation into the future.
Governor Larry Rhoden cut the ribbon and says South Dakota’s people are just one part of why documenting it’s history and stories is so important.
The ribbon cutting also was the campaign kick-off to support ongoing renovations at the complex.
