Rich Ward announce his candidacy for Aberdeen City Council

ABERDEEN, S.D.(Press Release)- I am thrilled to announce my candidacy for the Aberdeen City Council. As a lifelong resident of this vibrant city, my commitment to our community is unwavering. My decision to run is fueled by a desire to ensure Aberdeen continues to grow and develop in a fiscally responsible way.

With my wife, Amber, and our three children, Jamison, Kingston, and Willow, we embody the spirit and values of Aberdeen. Our family, along with every family in our community, motivates my commitment to making Aberdeen an even better place for our children and future generations.

My career as a passionate business developer and innovative thinker has given me unique insights and experiences that I believe are crucial for the challenges and opportunities facing Aberdeen. Over the past 10 years, I’ve been part of a successful startup tour agency & tour operator, partnering with over 500 schools across the U.S.! I’ve also had the opportunity to invest into residential real estate properties. Additionally, for the past three summers, I have operated an electric scooter fleet in Aberdeen, adding a modern, eco-friendly transportation option for our residents and visitors.

My entrepreneurial journey also includes establishing small wireless cell phone stores across the Midwest and a tenure as a licensed Hearing Aid Dispenser by the South Dakota Audiology Association. These experiences have not only honed my business acumen but also my ability to think outside the box and find innovative solutions to complex problems.  My family & I are active in the Aldersgate Methodist Church – volunteering our time & talents on a regular basis. We are also sports lovers & enjoy being active physically! When you see me at the YMCA, bike trails, or watching the Wolves, Golden Eagles, Cavaliers, Knights, or whichever team makes it to town, I’d be happy to chat with you about our city (or the ball game)!

We stand at a pivotal point, with critical issues like the city’s water infrastructure demanding immediate and thoughtful action. Additionally, the selection of a new City Manager following Robin Bobzien’s retirement is crucial for us to find the right fit for our community. These majors decisions will significantly influence Aberdeen’s trajectory, and I am prepared to take an active role in helping our city achieve its long-term goals.  My campaign is built on principles of transparency, responsibility, and robust community engagement. I am dedicated to representing your voice and interests in the City Council, working tirelessly to make Aberdeen a place where our community not only grows but thrives for future generations.
