River flows at Gavins Point Dam lowest in decades

YANKTON, S.D.(WNAX)- The Missouri River below Gavins Point Dam is very low as flows from the dam have been cut back to twelve thousand cubic feet per second.

Operations Manager Tom Curran says all of that water is going through their hydro electric generators.

Curran says other dams on the river will pick up the needed electric generation

Curran says they haven’t run this stage in over a decade.

The Corps of Engineers is forecasting low flows and runoff into the reservoirs through at least March first.
