Robert Davies, 75

Robert “Bob” Davies, 75, of Mina, SD, passed away on Monday, June 9, 2025, at his home.

A Memorial Service led by Bob’s sons will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, June 27, 2025, at Schriver’s Memorial Chapel, followed by a time for fellowship and luncheon at Schriver’s Memorial Fellowship Center. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service.

Schriver’s Memorial Mortuary and Crematory, 414 5th Avenue NW, Aberdeen, is in charge of arrangements. Family and friends may sign the online guestbook at www.schriversmemorial.com. Services will be recorded and posted on Schriver’s website following the service.

Robert “Bob” Davies was born to Robert Arthur and Esther (Cunningham) Davies on October 21, 1949, in Alton, Illinois. The family then moved to Aberdeen, where Bob was primarily raised by his father and grandmother until his grandmother’s death in 1960. Bob attended Catholic schools and graduated from Roncalli High School in 1967. He was proud to be part of the first graduating class.

Bob worked delivering pizzas at Pizza Inn for his first job, which is where he met his wife, Deborah. Soon after, Bob started working at the Department of Transportation (DOT). Later during his years at the DOT, he became the parts room supervisor. He retired from the DOT in 2020.  Bob worked at the DOT for 45+ years.

Robert and Deborah were married in 1970 and had two children: Christopher and Corey. Bob was an avid sports fan with his favorite teams being the Minnesota Vikings and the Minnesota Twins. He bowled in the Sunset Bowling League for many years and was also the treasurer for the league. He played City League Tennis for many years in singles, mixed doubles, and doubles. He won several trophies in these events. He enjoyed playing tennis with his two sons. He enjoyed coaching and attending his sons’ sporting events. Bob also coached Tennis at Roncalli High School in 1990. He initiated a JV tennis team to allow all students to participate in tennis.  Bob also played city league volleyball and slow-pitch softball. Bob was also an animal lover and had many dogs during his lifetime. His favorite dog, a lifelong companion named Taz, died in 2016.

Bob is survived by Deborah, his children Christopher (Cyndi) Davies and Corey (Rae) Davies; five grandchildren: Colin Davies, Catherine Davies, Chandler Davies, all of Acworth, Georgia, and Jacob Davies and Austin Davies, both of Kokomo, Indiana. He is also survived by eleven cousins.
