Robert Quentin Kolb was born on March 13, 1960, in Aberdeen, SD, to Herbert and Ruth (Schumack) Kolb. He attended Barnard School until its closure, then graduated from Aberdeen Central High School.

From a young age, Bob worked on his family’s farm and continued there after graduation, eventually focusing on raising cattle. He was a dedicated and hardworking cattleman, known for his remarkable memory—able to match calves to cows even among 400 pairs without tags.

On March 23, 1996, Bob was united in marriage to Kristi Neuharth. They were blessed with twin sons, Mathew and Quentin, born on August 8, 2006.

Bob was known for his sense of humor and rarely left a place—whether the doctor’s office, the Shed, or elsewhere—without sharing his latest joke. One of his greatest joys was being a father. He loved driving his boys wherever they needed to go and made sure they were always well cared for.

In his free time, Bob enjoyed hunting, watching westerns, baking bread, and canning pickles, vegetables, and meats. He also took pride in his large sweet corn patch and ensured that all his friends had more corn than they knew they needed.

Grateful for having shared Bob’s life are his wife, Kristi Kolb of Westport, SD; his sons, Mathew Kolb and Quentin Kolb of Westport, SD; his brother, Steve (Terri) Kolb; and many nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Kenneth Kolb.
