Rounds says audit needed of Indian Health Service

WASHINGTON, D.C. (WNAX) – Two new studies by the U.S. Health and Human Services Department shows the Indian Health Service still with major problems in delivering quality health care to Native Americans.

South Dakota Senator Mike Rounds says the report was not a surprise.

Rounds says IHS has not lived up to its responsibilities.

Rounds says there needs to be an overall audit of Indian Health.

Rounds sponsored a bill earlier this year that would mandate regular assessment of IHS performance.
