WASHINGTON, D.C. (WNAX) – Senate negotiators are trying to pick up the pieces of the failed negotiations over another economic stimulus bill.

South Dakota Senator Mike Rounds says they had a bill that Republicans could support but Democrats rejected.

Rounds says Democrats didn’t want to bring the bill to the floor.

Rounds says he hopes Democrats want to continue negotiations.

Republicans had proposed a so called “skinny bill” of about $300 billion, which Democrats said fell far short of what was needed.
